This comes from a short narrative and poem by Tao Qian/T'ao Ch'ien (365-427), which describes the accidental discovery by a Wuling fisherman of a community of political refugees who had been isolated from events and changes in the outside world for hundreds of years. When the fisherman in the story leaves the peaceful village to return home, they ask him not to tell others of their existence. He reports, however, to local officials of his journey, and the officials attempt, unsuccessfully, to retrace the route of the fisherman.
