For our last day on the Blithedale Romance, I would like you to consider what issues interest you most that you would like to discuss. However, I will throw out one "narrative" issue: characterization.
Please read at least the summary of Forster essay (==>). (The essay can be found in its entirety in Essentials of the Theory of Fiction.)
How would you characterize Hawthorne's characters (flat, round, other)? What are the ramifications of his choice of characterization?
