Who Made This Page?

You may be wondering who wrote this web site and why.

My name is Laura Arnold Leibman, and I am an Associate Professor of English Literature at Reed College. My specialty is American Literature, and I have a particular interest in literary history. (I am the academic director for Annenberg's video series American Passages.) I attended UCLA for graduate school from 1990-95. At the time I attended UCLA, we had to take qualifying exams in time periods and/or subject areas. The methods used here are based in part on those I and my cohort at UCLA used to study for our qualifying exams. Many thanks belong to fellow Americanists Mary Pat Brady and Stan Orr.

During the 2005-06 school year, I helped lead a study group for the English Literature GRE for English seniors. By placing this information on the web, I hope that future Reedies will have access to the materials this year's group studied.
