Restoration: John Bunyan

"John Bunyan (1628 – 1688), a Christian writer and preacher... wrote The Pilgrim's Progress, arguably the most famous published Christian allegory" (wikipedia). You will want to familiarize yourself with The Pilgrim’s Progress. It is easily recognized by the main character of "Christian the pilgrim" and the allegorical place names. It is a good example of the Puritan plain style. The work can be read as an allegorical novel or Christian Bildungsroman, as the novel traces the development and growth of the main character.

Wherefore, as I then shewed you, he left them, and departed.(Excerpt from Part Two (from Bibliomania http://www.bibliomania.com)
