The photographs and text in this web site are meant to supplement those published in various magazines and books and to provide images of additional aspects of the architecture, landscaping, and details. For those with special interest in the travertine, museum courtyard, tramway, signage, trees and plants, or some other particular aspect of the Getty architecture, in-depth images are grouped by category.

Captions provide information often not available in other publications and all photographs are dated to allow viewers to follow changes that have taken place since the Center opened two-and-a-half years ago. An extensive annotated bibliography is included to assist students, architects, and others interested in exploring other publications dealing with this much discussed architectural complex.

In addition to the obvious need for an efficient internet connection, for most viewers the weak link in viewing high quality images on the web is the size and settings of monitors. Viewed on small monitors set to display text as fast as possible, much of the detail and clarity of photographic images is lost. To see the precision and subtlety of this architecture, find a large monitor and adjust the settings for high resolution and maximum numbers of colors.
