The container of bamboo sticks on the righthand side of the judge's desk are all inscribed with numbers, and as evident on scrolls elsewhere (e.g. the Vidor collection, p. 31), that number indicates how many strokes or lashes are to be meted out as punishment. | |||||||||||||
