Due Saturday, September 16th, 5 P.M. in your conference leader's Eliot Hall mailbox. 

In book 2 of the Iliad, lines 211–277, Thersites abuses Agamemnon and is abused, in turn, by Odysseus. Focusing on Thersites, write an essay that analyzes the poet’s relationship to his characters and their values. Is Homer sympathetic to Thersites? To Thersites’ views? You may consider other parts of the Iliad, in relation to this passage, to support your argument.
