Violin

WILLIAM HUNT is active in Portland as a teacher and performer. Past appointments include concertmaster of the Eugene Symphony and Oregon Mozart Players, and Principal Second Violinist with the Portland Baroque Orchestra.  As an artist in residence at the University of Oregon he was a founding member of the Oregon String Quartet. Performances on period violin have included concerts on the popular “Papa Haydn” series with fortepianist Bonnie Garrett, and tours in Austria with Allora.  Former teaching appointments include ten years in the public schools and George Fox University. He served as a conductor of the Metropolitan Youth Symphony Concert Orchestra, the Little Orchestra of Portland, and the Chehalem Symphony in Newberg, Oregon. He holds music degrees from the University of Oregon and the University of North Texas, and has studied baroque violin in London with Simon Standage and the late Michaela Comberti.
