Gronke studies American politics and empirical political theory. His specialities are the U.S. Congress, elections and electoral behavior, and public opinion. He has published a book, The Electorate, The Campaign, and the Vote (Michigan 2000), articles in American Journal of Political Science, Legislative Studies Quarterly, Public Opinion Quarterly, Electoral Studies, and American Politics Quarterly. Gronke has also written opinion pieces for a variety of newspapers, has served as a radio and television commentator, and manages a weekly email list for students of American politics for W.W. Norton.
At Reed, Gronke teaches the introductory course on Empirical Political Theory, as well as courses in public opinion, Congress, campaigns, and elections.
Gronke is an avid runner, political junkie, and soccer and gymnastics dad.
