Prospectus

This course examines the main qualitative orientations to the study of state violence in the social sciences. It uses torture as the principal example about which to explore these approaches, but other practices will be considered. At least two completed upper level courses in one of these disciplines: political science, anthropology, sociology or history courses or consent of the instructor.

Readings for the 2007-2008 academic year will be posted at a later date.
