Language Scholar

The live-in language scholar is an indispensable member of the Reed Russian Department. A year or more of residence at the Russian House on campus provides both the scholar and the students with constant opportunities for language practice and cultural contact. As a member of the department, the Language Scholar teaches language drill-sections, attends and coordinates cultural events, and guides students through varying aspects of the Russian experience: culinary, linguistic, political, historical, and on and on...

Peter LeznikovZhenya Kudriavtseva

Zhenya Kudriavtseva was born in Leningrad, USSR (a "non-existent" city in a gone country). She had not even had a chance to become a Young Pioneer but with time, she became interested in the Soviet culture and proud of Soviet music and film. In 1988, Zhenya went abroad for the first time, and since then she has traveled a lot. Her fascination with foreign cultures led her to her college study of Italian and French (she has a diploma in these languages from St. Petersburg State University, nowadays it equals M.A.). In 2005, she began working as a film interpreter for TV and translator for Grinzane Cavour, an Italian literary prize. Currently she is in the middle of her graduate study in art history at Smolny College in St. Petersburg. With some luck, Zhenya will open her own gallery some day and become a new Serge Diaghilev.
