1913 Sweet/Spinden

All the photographs of Uxmal, Kabah, and Labná (there are no photographs of Sayil) in Herbert J. Spinden, A Study of Maya Art, Its Subject Matter and Historical Development, with two hundred and eighty-six illustrations in the text, twenty-nine plates and map, Memoirs of the Peabody Museum of American Archaeology and Ethnology, Harvard University, Vol. VI (Cambridge: Peabody Museum, 1913). These 15 photographs were taken in 1888-1891, as part of the Thompson-Peabody Museum expedition, and published in Spinden's 1913 book for the first time. 14 of the photographs were taken by Henry Sweet; 1 taken by Edward Thompson (p.9, no.2). These images were scanned from a copy of the book in the Reed College Library. Reproduced Courtesy of the Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology, Harvard University.
